The Ward marks the return of director John Carpenter, who’s been largely AWOL (not counting his Masters of Horror TV episodes) since making Ghosts of Mars in 2001.

Thankfully, this is a return to form for the renowned filmmaker with all the Carpenter trademarks present and correct (although he didn’t compose the score this time around).

Suffering from amnesia, Amber Heard (Zombieland) is locked in a creepy asylum where she soon discovers that her fellow patients have been disappearing. Could the vengeful spirit of a former inmate be responsible? Think Shutter Island meets The Ring.

Carpenter’s latest is making its Australian premiere on DVD, and will be an instant must-own for his legion of fans — without the post-cinema release waiting period!

It's official John Carpenter has left the building! Did the same guy really direct Halloween and The Thing? He's just phoned this one in. Everybody seems to have gone ape over this film, but if you think this is a "return to form" then you need to be committed.
