Hot on the heels of the best-selling The Da Vinci Code came this 2004 codebusting adventure from mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Nicolas Cage goes on a wild treasure hunt, following clues hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence.

The new 2-disc Special Edition includes a trivia track viewing mode, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, facts on the Knights Templar and featurettes. And in keeping with the spirit of the film, there's various code breaking exercises to unlock further special features.

Re-released to coincide with the forthcoming blockbuster sequel National Treasure: Book of Secrets, coming to DVD on June 4.

Though at times he can be pompous and full of himself, Nicholas Cage was probably the best choice for the lead role in this film. For a movie that follows a couple of treasure hunters on their quest for booty, it's not half bad. Look for the comedy relief from the Hangover star Justin Bartha if you're lost for something to look at. Overall, a good film, and one of those rare enough to have a half-decent sequel.
