The hand-held hit horror franchise goes back to the beginning. This time the footage is culled from video recordings made in 1988, when sisters Katie and Kristi were children.

The latter becomes obsessed with an imaginary friend and when things start to get weird – like mirror reflections that move independently – their mother's boyfriend sets up video surveillance throughout the house.

Once again the suspense and shocks are generated through lengthy, static and silent scenes, forcing the viewer to study the frame for signs of, well, paranormal activity. When the spooky stuff does inevitably occur, the effect is jolting.

Paranormal Activity 3 is a much better sequel than the second film, thanks to the involvement of directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who made the mockumentary Catfish and have a good feel for DIY filmmaking.

STARRING: Chris Smith, Jessica Tyler Brown, Chloe Csengery, Lauren Bittner, Hallie Foote

I wouldnt normally watch low budget films but 1, 2 and 3 instalments really frightened me, going to bed watching these gave me nightmares. I think some people arent all fooled but I think these are awesome movies, I cant wait to find out what grandma has instore for us, what is she hiding?

The first two instalments were scary enough - now they've made number 3 - I can't wait to own it

Hey Winner. They don't cost anything to make and they make millions. So they will keep on making them. Doesn't mean we have to keep on watching them though!

All of these films are utter rubbish. Don't be fooled. You won't be scared. These are probably the most overrated horror films in cinema history. The only thing you'll be running away from here is the dire nature of the franchise. FR!!

Following up from the somewhat disappointing Paranormal Activity 2, Paranormal Activity 3 brings back more thrills, chills and originality which made the first film so successful.

I didn't have high expectations going into this, as once a horror franchise gets up and running, the sequels seem to get worse each time! I was pleasantly surprised, however, and amazed at the spine-tingling effects they pulled off given a far larger budget than the first 2 films.

For the first time in my horror movie watching life, I actually kept wanting to put my hands over my eyes to prevent my body from constantly jumping - highly recommend to anyone into horror, the first two movies or just looking for an adrenaline rush!

The first Paranormal Activity was made on a small independent film budget of $15,000 and ended up making almost $200,000,000 world wide. It was the most profitable film ever made. So it was no surprise that they decided to make a sequel. I was reluctant to see the sequel at first, I wasn't sure it was the type of film that could or should be reproduce. But I went anyway and to my surprise, I loved it! It was just as good if not better than the original! So when the third film came out, I went to see it with no expectations and it was AMAZING! The best yet! They just keep getting better.
The third film goes back to the laste 80's when Katie and Kristie (sisters from the first two films) were children and first encountered this 'paranormal activity'. Which is why I think it works so well; there's something about kids in horror films that makes it that more scarier. The story answers a lot of questions from the previous films, without making things too complicated. Oh, and it is as scary as hell!
If you love scary films, than you will LOVE this film!
