Continuing the Oscar theme of this month's releases, Woody Allen’s latest film features the Best Supporting Actress performance: Penélope Cruz in her role as the former wife of Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men).

Cruz's character, Maria Elena, imposes herself on a ménage à trois between her ex and American girls Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson).

Woody Allen's work becomes more accessible to casual viewers with each successive film, and a lesbian kiss involving Johansson and Cruz will add to the buzz surrounding this one, post Oscars.

Johansson appears to have assumed the role of Allen’s latest muse, having also appeared in Scoop and Match Point.
