It’s a war big enough that somebody will likely be writing games about it one day, it’s Battlefield vs Call of Duty.
EA have really been trash-talking Activision’s annual sortie into simulated warfare, ’cos they reckon they’ve got this year’s star. Considering they’ve built a whole new engine just for it, there’s a lot riding on their bravado.
Battle takes place on land and in the air, from New York to Paris, Sarajevo to Tehran, promising more drama and focus on the human side of war – without diminishing the ability to shoot to your heart’s content, natch.
Co-op and class-based multiplayer is the cap feather, including the implementation of ‘Battlelog’. Similar to ‘Autolog’ for EA’s car-based games, it’s basically a gaming social network.
It looks like for once like there may actually be some winners from war – us, the players.
