Anvil! The Story of Anvil
The missing link between documentary, rockumentary and mockumentary. |
The battling spirit is an admirable human trait that not everybody possesses. Anvil have it – in droves. The band tasted fame in the early '80s when rock musicians probably spent more on hair product than actual record productions. However, where many of their contemporaries achieved worldwide success, Anvil were left behind to stagnate, supported only by a posse of die-hard fans. These days, some 25 years later, they are trapped in suburb sobriety, the pursuit of an archaic dream remains as passionate now as the day that time forgot them. Throughout the film the pair bicker, fall out and re-unite with emotional declarations of undying love; they survive a futile and crowd-free tour of Europe then venture back into the studio to record for "that" album they still believe is within them. You'll laugh – sometimes out of embarrassment – but above all else, you'll want them to win. For the sake of humankind, you'll want them to win. Release date: Mar 03, 2010 |
