New York City noiseniks A Place To Bury Strangers – oft referred to as the ‘loudest band in NYC’ – are frequently compared to the Jesus and Mary Chain.
This EP sees little initial change from that sonic template, with opening tracks I Lost You and So Far Away aping the J&MC with distorted guitars and primitive drum beats.
It takes an interesting turn with Onwards to the Wall – it could be The Cure’s A Forest sung by the sonorous tones of The Sisters of Mercy’s Andrew Eldtritch; the latter’s influence pervading the band’s current sound.
