Recorded in the studio garage of The National’s Aaron Dessner, Tramp documents the life of an artist in flux.
Literally written while Sharon Van Etten drifted between various places over 14 months, the record is anchored by her exceptional, and unmistakable voice.
The compositions and arrangements encompass gritty rock textures, as well as more melodic and minimalist qualities. Guests who accompany Van Etten include Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, Julianna Barwick, Beirut’s Zach Condon, and Dessner himself.
