Texan singer Ruthie Foster’s mix of gospel, blues, soul and folk made a lasting impression on audiences privileged to see her at 2011’s Bluesfest.
Her latest album was recorded in New Orleans, with Crescent City musicians and guest singers The Blind Boys of Alabama, and soul icon William Bell.
The results reveal memorable performances of diverse songs including John Martyn’s Don’t Want to Know, David Crosby’s Long Time Gone, an atmospheric ballad version of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire and Bell’s classic You Don’t Miss Your Water sung in duet with the writer.
