Simon Pegg, best known as the titular character from Shaun of the Dead, is directed here by former Friends star David Schwimmer. And while this trans-Atlantic team-up might seem more than a tad mismatched, there’s actually plenty of laughs to be had and no sacrificing of British sensibility.
After running out on his pregnant fiancée (Thandie Newton) five years ago, the plump Pegg finds himself running to win her back, as the unlikely participant in a charity marathon.
A romantic comedy for both sexes that deftly balances the sweet with the gross-out and trades on Pegg’s affable appeal, which made Shaun and Hot Fuzz so much fun. For more on Simon Pegg and Run Fatboy Run see page 36
